Try the observation deck atop the George Washington Masonic Memorial, the patio at restaurant Indigo Landing or along the Mount Vernon Trail on the Alexandria waterfront for uncrowded views.
62 years after George Washington’s death saw the start of the
Civil War. Alexandria was the site of some of the first fatalities of the
bloody conflict and PBS’ Mercy Street gives us a peek at what
might have happened in our great Old Town.
